I can dance the Torah

I can dance the Torah

By Ananta Kumar Giri

I can dance the Torah

I dance with stories

While dancing

Meaning of Torah comes alive in my body

A new awakening

A new breath

A new realization

With and beyond thinking

Weaving creative threads

In the webs of interpretations

Dancing with Torah

I realize

We do not live Biblically

We live rabbinically

To be a rabbi is to be a water

Around the rocks of rules

To dance with rules as

Part of dancing with people and the book

Not set apart but as a seeker of learning and wisdom

While tending tattered shoes

Dancing with shoes and stories

Tired feet and stuck minds

With a new ecstasy

A Reenchantment of Life
